Our Process
From complex material to clear visual communication
When Oakbeam is useful
Oakbeam is often brought in when important work needs to become clearer, more human and easier to share.
A research project needs to reach beyond the report
The evidence is strong, but the story needs to be shaped for people who will not read the full report.
An event or summit needs to hold together
There are multiple themes, speakers and audiences, but the communication needs a clear visual and narrative thread.
Lived experience needs careful handling
Real stories need to be shaped into public-facing communication without losing dignity, accuracy or nuance.
A campaign has strong material but no clear shape
The messages, audiences and assets are there, but the overall story needs structure before production begins.
A programme needs a story people can use
Teams, partners or funders need a clearer way to explain what the work is doing, why it matters and where it is heading.
A story needs to work across formats
A film, presentation, report launch, social campaign or event package needs to feel connected, coherent and purposeful.
How we work
Every project starts with understanding the material, the audience and the purpose. Whether we are creating an animated film, a summit visual system, a keynote sequence or a set of digital assets, the aim is the same: to help important ideas become clearer, more engaging and easier to use.
01
Understand the context and intent
We start by understanding the material, audience, purpose and constraints before any creative direction begins.
02
Shape the message
We clarify what people need to understand, feel or do, then shape the narrative structure that will carry the work.
03
Develop the visual approach
We explore the visual language, from style frames and storyboards to visual systems, slide treatments or modular assets.
04
Produce the assets
We create the agreed films, graphics, event visuals, social content or presentation materials, keeping every output in service of the message.
05
Review and refine
We share work at agreed stages, incorporating feedback while protecting clarity, accuracy and purpose.
06
Deliver and extend
We deliver final assets in the right formats and advise on how the work can be adapted, reused or extended.
