NFU: The Value Of British Farming

Oakbeam Pictures was commissioned by the National Farmers Union to create a series of animated films supporting a public-facing campaign about the role and value of British farming. The aim was to help wider audiences better understand the contribution farming makes to food production, the environment, and the national economy.

The animations were designed to communicate complex and often interconnected issues in a way that was clear, accurate, and accessible. The work needed to balance information with engagement, ensuring the content could be widely shared while remaining credible and informative.

A significant focus of the project was the development of clear and carefully considered scripts. Each film went through multiple iterations in close collaboration with the NFU team to ensure accuracy, tone, and clarity. Storyboarding played a key role in testing how ideas would translate visually, helping to identify potential issues early and ensure the final animations supported understanding rather than oversimplification.

The resulting films were used to support public awareness and discussion, demonstrating how animation can be used responsibly to explain complex policy and sector-wide issues to non-specialist audiences.
